2 Timothy 2:15
Emotional truth is what a person feels about a situation. Feelings are personal and not universal, which means they only exist inside the mind of the person having the feeling. Feelings then are the most unreliable indicator of truth because they are almost always based on conjecture and not actual facts. Conjecture is an opinion or conclusion formed on the basis of incomplete or limited information.
Two people can go through the exact same experience and have two entirely different feelings about the experience because we all see, hear and feel things differently. What’s beautiful to one may be vulgar to the other and what’s acceptable to one may be rejected by the other! Yet, both people’s feelings about the experience is true, even though their truths do not align or agree! Why? Because feelings are real but can’t be categorized as fact or truth! What is true and what is truth are not always the same!
Only what is universally true can be considered truth! Truth is objective and not subjective. Objective truth is fact based and verifiable and does not include statements or observations based on personal views, preferences or biases. Truth is always true no matter how we feel about it. John 14:6 tells us that GOD is the Truth and Malachi 3:6 tells us that He changes not! That means truth is always true and never changes under any conditions.
So, be careful about standing on your truth! At least until you’ve had time to trace your feelings back to the facts. Just because something ‘looks’ right or ‘feels’ right does not make it right! Stop making decisions, especially life decsions based on conjecture and instead rely on the facts! Take the time to study, which means to devote the necessary time and attention to acquire the facts because seldom do all the facts appear in a single glance! In this way, we rightly divide what is true!
Be blessed…
